BIRD BANDING UNMASKED!

August 8 and 9, 2008

This workshop will begin at Sunbury Shores on Friday evening at 7:00 pm with an introduction to bird banding and mark/capture programs. Tracey will explore such topics as why band, what species are caught at the St. Andrews Banding Station, what programs the Station contributes data to, and why. On Saturday, beginning at 7:00 am, we will go to the Station, open the nets and see what we can catch! Open to all levels of interest. Appropriate clothing and footwear are recommended. Limited to 8 participants.

Fee: $75 plus HST

Tracey Dean

Tracey Dean directs the Education Department at the Huntsman Marine Science Centre in St. Andrews, NB. With a B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Forestry, Tracey has extensive experience leading natural history trips for groups of all ages and her keen interest in birds has taken her to many exotic, remote, hot, cold and buggy locations. Tracey runs the St. Andrews Bird Banding Station and especially likes to follow her banded "friends" south in winter!
