PAPERMAKING AND BOOKS ARTS
July 21-25, 2008
Anita Singh

Participants will learn an artistic approach to papermaking and experiment with how natural fibres (flowers, grass, leaves, corn husk, pineapple tops, onion and garlic skins, fabrics, lace...) can be transformed into works of art. You will learn fibre preparation and make various pulp baths and pull sheets of unique papers. Some of these art papers can then be used in the book arts portion of this workshop. Students will also learn various bookmaking techniques and create their own blank books. By exploring design and content, you will create your own one-of-a-kind art book(s), illustrating them using various printmaking techniques, drawing, painting and collage. No previous
experience is required.
