CLASS (Children Learning At Sunbury Shores)

Sunbury Shores Arts and Nature Centre is pleased to offer art instruction for students in our area.

In partnership with The Kiwanis Club of St. Andrews, the Tecolote, McCain, Dunn and Fundy Community foundations, and the Arts Branch, New Brunswick Department of Wellness, Culture and Sport, Sunbury Shores launched the CLASS (Children Learning At Sunbury Shores) Program in September, 2005.

This program involves school children from St. Andrews taking part in art and nature classes on our premises during regular school time with instruction being given by artists and naturalists from the community.

Kindergarten - Grade 4 classes are held at the school, as part of the CLASS outreach program. Grades 5, 6, 7 & 8 travel to Sunbury Shores once a week as do Youth at Risk from St. Stephen and St. George.

The Centre is also delighted to be offering a Credit course for students in Grades 11 and 12. Woking with local instructors Robert Van de Peer, Faith Fowler and Chantal Vincent who are instructing printmaking, painting and ceramics, students will achieve the hours of instruction needed to gain their credit.

Starting in 2007, students at Deer Island Community School will also benefit from the CLASS program.

Information for School and Group Visits:

We welcome classroom visits to the Sunbury Shores. Classes can view the current exhibition and take part in a hands on art and/or nature workshop. Each visit can be tailored to suit the needs of your group and we are always happy to discuss visits in advance.
