Join award-winning landscape artist Michael Chesley Johnson for a painting expedition to Ministers Island. Watch Michael demonstrate his approach to plein air (outdoor) painting, and then paint beside him among the distinctive historic barns and cottages than comprise the Sir William Van Horne Estate. For this very special event, Michael welcomes all media and every level of painter. Appropriate clothing and footwear and bringing your own lunch are recommended.
Fee: $85 plus HST

Michael Chesley Johnson

Michael Chesley Johnson is a Signature Member of Plein Air New Mexico and Pastel Society New Mexico, and a juried member of Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, the Pastel Society of America, and Pastel Artists Canada, among others. He has exhibited his award-winning work in many venues, and it has appeared in American Artist and Plein Air Magazine. Noted for his expressive, intuitive use of colour and his ability to talk about the act of painting in easy-to-understand terms, Michael has become a popular teacher who gives workshops across the country. He is represented in New Mexico by Benson Fine Art in San Patricio and Cloudcroft Gallery & Gifts in Cloudcroft; in Colorado by the Ago Gallery in Ouray; and by the Ridgehouse Gallery in Lubec, Maine. Michael lives and paints in the Sacramento Mountains of New Mexico and on Campobello Island in New Brunswick, Canada.
