PAINTERLY DRAWING
July 21-25, 2008
Jay Isaac

The goal of this course will be for students to understand and practice the art of oil sketching in nature. Most of the activity will take place outside, en plein air, in the historical Canadian and Impressionistic tradition. Emphasis will be placed on portraying the essence of the subject matter rather than a detailed rendition with drawing being the primary focus. This approach encourages looseness and speed and what is known as "economy of means" - using the least amount of brushwork to get across the maximum amount of information. Basic drawing/painting techniques will be covered along with colour and composition.
Fee: $375 plus HST Member / $400 plus HST Non Member
